Engaging researchers and participant communities through creative communication forums on social media

Building a global social media forum for creative communication using art, poetry, film, music, patient narratives etc functions as a bridge for engagement between researchers and community participants in collaborating and contributing ideas, perspectives and insights. My experience with this initiative on facebook through my page Cancer Research Updates reveals that individuals and the public are eager to contribute their unique perspectives if they have the freedom to contribute through any creative form such as art, music, poetry, narratives, stories of their experience as patients/ family etc. Integrating humanities and art in research and healthcare communication enables us to breaks down silos .

This social media based collaborative knowledge sharing resource was awarded the international digital health award 2019 and silver medal.
