Nobel Prize Winner Barbara McClintock: The Slow Paradigm Shift

In 1983, Barbara McClintock won the Nobel in Physiology/Medicine for discovering that DNA segments can move within the genome ("mobile DNA"). Although most of the millions of copies of mobile DNA are inactive, the active elements cause cancer.
