In the past few years, the rapidly advancing field of cancer immunology has produced several new methods of treating cancer, called immunotherapies, that increase the strength of a patient’s immune responses against tumors. Such treatments have led to dramatic successes in some cancers but not others. At the same time, the concept of adjusting the immune response, or immunomodulation, is being extended into cancer prevention, with the goal of developing strategies to spur the immune system to both prevent the development of cancer in the first place and prevent recurrence.

Accelerate trials of car T cell immuotherapy for prostate cancer

What is the research problem :

No trials currently for prostate cancer in car T cell immuotherapy.

How will your solution make a difference :

It has shown a difference for other cancer patients in the use of this such as melanoma. Terminal prostate cancer patients such as myself at the end of standarized treatments have no choices left.

What is your proposed solution :

Provide funding for this as City of Hope was ready to go forward with this, but lacked necessary funding and every where you look as a potential groundbreaking treatment car T cell immuotherapy is mentioned for advanced prostate cancer.

Adaptive memory NK cells targeted though CD16

We believe that NK cells, like T cells, have the capacity, to be antigen specific specific through the low affinity binding of CD16 to natural antibody or high affinity binding of tri-specific killer engagers (TriKEs) that also proliferate NK cells.

What is the research problem :

Advanced cancers are typically resistant to chemotherapy. We have shown that NK cells have anti-tumor activity in AML. We believe that NK cell therapy is limited by the need for a proliferative signal, better specificity and immunologic memory.

How will your solution make a difference :

We hypothesis that adaptive NK cells, that have all the machinery of T cells, will offer non-cross resistant therapy to advanced cancer, will be safer than T-CAR and can be made antigen specific, antigen proliferative and be long lived.

What is your proposed solution :

We have discover a novel population of CMV-induced adaptive NK cells that have a hypomethylation signature that resembles CD8+ T cells more so than conventional NK cells that are long-lived and have enhanced signaling through CD16. Novel immune engagers that bind CD16 at high affinity with a single chain Fv can be combined with a modified IL-15 linker to impart proliferation and a single chain Fv to make adaptive memory NK cells antigen specific.

Stimulate immunoresponse to tumor in situ

Cancerous tumors have vasculature which allows them to receive nutrients and grow. The body recognizes these tumors as "self" early in the process and allows this support system to grow.

How to make the body have an immune response to tumors within the body without endangering the entire organism.

How will your solution make a difference :

My idea is inexpensive, easy to evaluate and can be implemented using existing technologies that exist all over the world.

What is your proposed solution :

My idea is to use this blood system to distribute blood of a different type in high concentration but low volume at the site of the tumor to stimulate an immune response and destroy the tumor.

A phase 1 trial of a short course of high dose radiation therapy to an escalating volume of unresectable mesothelioma followed immediately by an anti-PD1 antibody.

What is the research problem :

Unresectable mesothelioma is incurable with few effective therapies. Meso commonly expresses PDL-1 inhibiting an immune response. The ideal volume of tumor to irradiate to elicit the best immune response when an anti-PD1 antibody is given is unknown.

How will your solution make a difference :

A phase 1 trial would demonstrate that such a unique strategy to combat mesothelioma is safe and feasible. A followup phase 2 trial would demonstrate efficacy.

What is your proposed solution :

Radiation therapy (RT) has profound effects on the tumor microenvironment causing elimination of regulatory T cells, presentation of neo antigens, amongst other. RT can potentiate the effect of immune checkpoint inhibitors such as anti-PD1 antibodies. A phase 1 trial investigating escalating the gross tumor volume irradiated with a short course of high dose radiation immediately followed by an anti-pd1 antibody.

What is the research problem :

Vaccines to prevent many kinds of cancers are being withheld from the public.

How will your solution make a difference :

These investigations could expose evidence of plausibly deniable mass genocide. Investigate Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital research on Laetrile therapy. By making vitamin B17 available, cancer cells can be destroyed before they become problematic.

What is your proposed solution :

Investigate the wealthiest people in the world including the Rothschild family to learn their cancer experiences. Investigate how leading cancer researchers and physicians have prevented and treated cancer themselves. Investigate clinical trials and the FDA for falsification. Investigate drug companies, cancer treatment equipment manufacturers, and cancer research centers searching for a cure, to uncover corruption.

Vaccinate population against certain Human Papilloma Virus

Human papilloma virus can cause cancer. It is well known that vaccination against certain types of HPV reduces the risk of getting cancer.

What is the research problem :

Who should get vaccinated against certain types of HPV associated with cancer?

How will your solution make a difference :

Fewer males and females will get cancer as well as HPV associated warts/condyloma.

What is your proposed solution :

Start by vaccinating females and males under the age of 40. When that is done diskussion should be made about who else should get vaccinated.

BOOST ANTIGEN-PRESENTATION COMBINED WITH CHECK-POINT INHIBITION

Down-regulation of (neo)antigens limits the efficacy of immune-checkpoint inhibitors. Interferon-g is a potent stimulator of MHC expression and antigen-presentation. Administration of systemic IFNg may boost checkpoint-inhibitors.

What is the research problem :

Unlike targeted therapy, immune therapy relies on proteins which are specific for tumor cells but not indispensable. Hence it is easily evaded by down-regulation of antigen-presentation, often via the down-regulation of MHC I/II proteins.

How will your solution make a difference :

If toxicity can be managed for the proposed combination therapy, this treatment could result in expanding the response rate and duration of remission of treatment with immune check-point inhibitors for a variety of cancers.

What is your proposed solution :

Interferon-g (IFNg) is the most potent inducer of expression of MHC I and II molecules and of antigen-processing and presentation. IFNg has been used systematically before (and toxicity, while present, can be managed). Thus we should design clinical trials for the combination of immune check-point inhibitors with systemic IFNg. One should also screen for novel small molecules that could enhance MHC and antigen expression

Can some cancers be contageous between humans?

I have heard that dogs can get cancer from being infected with cancercells from their partner while mating. I have heard of families where two individuals die of cancer or of the same type of cancer shortly after eachother. Is this a coincidence?

What is the research problem :

Environment/chemicals/microbes, genes, epigenetics play a role when a human develop cancer. If dogs can get infected by cancercells from other dogs, perhaps this also exists in humans?

How will your solution make a difference :

If some cancer in humans is contagious that would change routines in Healthcare and within families. Perhapas better advice could prevent other familymembers and Healthcare staff from getting cancer.

What is your proposed solution :

Examine if human cancercells can cause cancer in human tissue/cells from another person. Can onk-genes or other types of genes that regulates the cellcycle and division of a cell be transferred by microbes or by close contact between humans? Are there any human cancercells that are contagious? Use Big-data to see what familymemebers die from. Perform gene-sequencing to look for similar causes of cancer within the same family.

Examine correlation between infections and cancers

I have heard that there is a microbiology instrument that from one drop of blood can find traces of over 100 different infections that a person has been exposed to during her lifetime.

What is the research problem :

We don´t know what many different viruses/bacteria/parasites does to our bodies. Are there unknown correlations between these infections and cancer? If there is vaccines should be developed.

How will your solution make a difference :

If there is an unknown correlation between microbes and cancer a vaccine should be developed. Vaccination would hopefully generate fewer cancerpatients.

What is your proposed solution :

Analyze cancerpatients blood and search for infections they have had during their life, compare the results with healthy people to see if some exposures are more common among different types of cancerspatients.Use big-data.

What is the research problem :

Over twenty governments - including India, Russia France and Israel- are enacting protective policy yet the US is lagging behind. Belgium has banned cell phones for children. Israel’s third largest City Haifa just removed the WiFi from ALL schools.

How will your solution make a difference :

Acting Now Will Protect Children's Future. Children will have a lifetime of exposure to wireless radiation. Simple steps can dramatically reduce their exposures. Preventative action will protect their health, wellbeing and future. ehtrust.org

What is your proposed solution :

The USA can develop prudent cautionary policy to reduce cell phone/Wi-Fi exposures to the public with special attention to children, pregnant women and the medically vulnerable.

 

The As Low As Reasonably Achievable - ALARA- principle can be applied to cell phones, wireless and other EMF radiation. ALARA is a well known radiation safety principle for minimizing radiation doses and is a regulatory requirement for radiation safety programs.

Prevention is the best cure

We need a shift toward a more positive attitude regarding cancer prevention, rather than a focus on treatment alone.

What is the research problem :

While the links between smoking and lung cancer or UV and melanoma are known and accepted, there is reluctance when it comes to behavioral prevention of other types of cancer, perhaps because lifestyle changes such as diet are difficult and complex.

How will your solution make a difference :

There is a tendency to disbelieve when the proposed lifestyle change is inconvenient. But more research and an attitude change towards prevention will save people from unpleasant treatment regimens and help them lead longer, healthier lives.

What is your proposed solution :

Fund grants that identify links between environmental causes and cancer, using epidemiology data and biochemistry to recognize trends and discern molecular causes. To motivate people to make changes, the scientific community first needs to focus on rather than scoff at preventative research. Mounting evidence regarding the role of BMI in breast cancer, for example, should be followed up on, and similar inquiries emphasized across cancer types.
