Young adults are the least represented age group in clinical trials. Inadequate trial participation as expected equals inadequate survival benefit for decades,
The current system to request and test outside tumor tissue for possible targeted onc meds works poorly and system inefficiencies can limit patient treatment options and delay needed treatment. The system needs to be improved.
No benefit in survivability for decades and the lowest participation in clinical trials. It's time for a funded cooperative group for adolescents & young adults. The current system is failing this age group.
Am I wrong? I don't recognize ANY young adult onc representatives on the cancer MBRP. Peds deservedly has 3 on the MBRP with less than 1% of cancers. There should be at least 3 AYA onc professionals on the MBRP.
