There is a lot of interest in the study of "exceptional responders" with regard to tumor molecular characteristics - as a corollary, what other systemic factors allow some individuals to far outlive their anticipated prognoses?
The presence of cancer (early and advanced) seems to have effects upon functional status that vary based on both tumor and patient characteristics. A better understanding of why this occurs is needed.
